Weights explained, I hope.


Ok, above is a scale ticket from my California trip. As you can see the trailer axles are overloaded. Legal limits are written in pen.
There are 2 places on the truck that can be moved to shift the weight around. The first being where the truck hooks onto the trailer and this can be slid forwards and back but adjustments are minimal. The second is the trailer axles are slid as one unit forwards and back and greater adjustments can be made. The bad thing about California is that the centre of the rear trailer wheel cannot extend beyond the 40ft mark so Adjustment is limited.In any other state I would of slid the trailer wheels back and in sort of a see-saw effect more weight would of transferred to the drive axles on the truck. With on visit to the scales I would of been legal and good to go. Below is the final scale certificate after the load had been taken off and reloaded, just incase the law is reading this !!!
